We invite you to take part in the Second Scientific Conference "Internet and Modern Society" (IMS'99). The conference will be held on

November 29 - December 3,1999

in St.Petersburg State University, St.Petersburg, Russia.

The conference is supported by the Ministry of Education of Russian Federation and Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

The conference is dedicated to the problems of Internet development and application in education, culture, medicine, business and state management. The results of complex interdisciplinary research of Internet impact to modern society as well as the potentialities of advanced Internet and multimedia technologies for the development of distance learning systems, digital libraries and museums are to be discussed.

The discussion will be focused on the following problems:

  1. Internet in culture, art and libraries.
  2. Internet and social processes in modern society.
  3. Law and security in Internet.
  4. Internet in education and science.
  5. Internet and K12 (secondary and pre-school education).
  6. Internet and distance learning.
  7. Internet in medicine and environmental protection.
  8. Information systems, information search and presentation in Internet.
Refereed papers will be published. All materials will be available on the Web-site (http://imsconference99.spbu.ru).

Deadline: November 10, 1999.
The text should not exceed 5 Kb.

Please, arrange the papers to be published in accordance with the following demands:

  • Title (small letters)
  • Authors (surname, name)
  • Institution
  • City, country
  • The text should be followed by the full name, position, institution, tel./fax/e-mail of all authors, preferable form of presentation (oral presentation, poster, computer demonstration etc.).
  • The paper must be accompanied by an ABSTRACT (the text without title and names of the authors should not exceed 100 words).

REGISTRATION FEE

Registration fee is $100 and should be paid during registration on November 29, 1999 in roubles.

Registration fee doesn't include accommodation and meals.
